Commissions: OPEN | Trades: CLOSED

Yeah, it only takes a few people to spoil a good thing.  This is the reason I had them closed for so long in the first place.  In the past two months, I've been screwed out of my end of the trade with more than a few people who will not be named.  I've received no note or explanation on when/if my part will be done.  If you've contacted me before this as to why, DON'T WORRY, I'm not pissed off at you.  Thank you for letting me know!  I don't expect a trade to be done within days of agreeing to it but when I'm waiting a month or two more without any notice, I get kind of irked.  Trades and commissions go before ALL OTHER WORK when I do art because people are doing something for me/PAYING for it.  I would hope the same would be done in return, but apparently not.  So yes, unless you are someone who has been reliable in trades with me previously, we're done.

-end 3am bitch rant-

Sadly, I know this one all too well. I have four outstanding trades between two individuals, one has been over four years and whenever I prod the artist about it, they're always 'getting to it soon'. The other outright ignores me. Sadly, this isn't limited to trades either. I have one commission out that I ordered two years ago and I've received no word on whether or not I can even get a refund. I'm really losing a lot of faith in the artists on this site. >8

Thats a few of the reasons that I rarely ever take trades anymore unless its a part of a reputable group :( I also prefer random acts of art to trades as I feel these can be more "free" in terms of time as well as they are just nice to receive.

Sorry that people had to ruin such a good thing with you and I hope that you can still continue doing art for other people, with art in return, even if it is just among your friends :)

You should name them and shame them. That way people will know to avoid doing trades with these people.

I know the feeling friend. I get issues like that with commissions where I never get paid. I had one person come to me wanting one and we discussed everything even how much it would be and when asked for at that time HALF the payment up front he turned and went 'Sorry I didn't understand what a commission was" like BS.

I've had so many run ins with people just trying to con free art out of me, it's a wonder I still try to do commissions.

You're not alone friend, theres a lot of idiots out there. *hugs*

How do you not know what a commission is lol. That's why I do a quick sketch after I talk to commissioners (after we've already talked about price and what not) and tell them I won't finish until they approve that sketch AND I see the money. It's one thing to be screwed out of a trade but not being paid would make me go crazy. Yeah, gotta love people, thank you! -hugs back-

Oh I've done that too, even told them up front that a very fast messy scetch to get the idea is first done, usually when I am talking over details. and They get mad because it's not the finished product. Or was exspecting more... a.k.a they want free art and try to swindle it.

The only real commissions I've gotten sadly... have been from friends :(
